Dr. Mohd Zamri Che Wanik

Visiting Professor

A Power Systems Engineering and Research Specialist, with an overall professional experience spanning 23 years. Currently associated with Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (QEERI), in the capacity of Scientist/Project Lead – Smart Grids-Advanced Power Systems and is involved in the R&D, pilots and demonstration projects related mostly to PV integration. Successfully led many R&D, consultancy and pilot projects in this domain. Recognized as an expert and is frequently invited for giving talks, conducting seminars and workshops for the academia and industry on topics related to his expertise. He is also active in voluntary work within technical society. He is a senior member of IEEE, a member of IEEE PES, and a member of CIGRE.

Received BSc. from the University of Evansville, U.S.A., MEngSc. from the Curtin University, Australia and Doktor der Ingenieurwissenschaften from Universität Duisburg-Essen, Germany in 1997, 2002 and 2011 respectively all in Electrical Engineering specialising on Power System.

Acknowledged as an expert in Distributed Energy Resources management and Renewable Energy integration. When he was in Malaysia, he was constantly referred by Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), the main and largest electric utility company in Malaysia. He was working with TNB Research between from 2011 to 2016 on both part-time and full-time basis. His works with TNB Research has contributed to the amendment of Malaysia Grid Codes to accommodate large scale solar farm, improvement of Malaysian PV interconnection guidelines to medium voltage grid, pilot demonstration project on distributed generation management in TNB Distribution network, pilot demonstration of Microgrid operation at TNB, Malaysian Electric Vehicle charging infrastructure guidelines & planning and net metering policy & mechanism with Renewable Energy to name a few.
